Biography

Andy Cater resides in Northern California and is the worship leader at Redwood Covenant Church in Santa Rosa . 

Andy has been involved in worship ministry on the local church level for over twenty-five years as a worship leader, songwriter, arranger, producer, and musician. Andy has written over 50 songs that have been sung in worship throughout the Body of Christ since the mid 1980's. Andy has also produced three music recordings to date. More recordings are planned for the future. 

Andy leads worship at many community-wide events and retreats.  His songs touch the passion and honesty of the worshiper and helps to connect worshipers to the flow of God's Spirit, bringing times of refreshing and healing to God's people.

Andy has traveled to Romania for a short-term mission’s trip where outreach concerts were held for the people there. He has played for such well-known artists as Paul Baloche, Ron Kenoly, and Phil Driscoll. He has sung at Saddleback Church in Southern California for their weekend services and led worship at their mid-week services.

Andy enjoys producing, and has produced a number of CD's for local and regional artists. He loves to write music and has written a wide variety of music from film scores to jazz tunes.  He loves spending time in his project studio - also known as The Shed.  

Andy was born in Tennessee but moved to California at age 10.  Andy attended high school in Southern California where he co-wrote many songs with Steve Hindalong (Christian producer and co-author of God of Wonders). Andy met his to-be wife, Denise, in high school and was active in church life. Andy attended UCLA and Cal State Long Beach where he received a Bachelors Degree in Music.

Ministries

Andy enjoys ministering to the Body of Christ in various ways:

Worship Concerts ­ Andy weaves the stories behind his songs and other testimony throughout an evening of praise and intimate worship. Solo or with band.

Retreats ­ Andy has led worship at many retreats of both small and large groups, often using common choruses, freshly arranged hymns, and his original songs to lead retreat participants to a deep time of worship. For congregations, worship teams, or worship conferences.

Worship Songwriter's Seminars ­ Andy is available to teach seminars on the craft and ministry of writing songs for worship.

Family

Andy and Denise married on February 14, 1981 and are celebrating their 25^th anniversary in 2006.  Denise is a singer and percussionist with the church worship team.

Andy has three wonderful and talented children: Jeremy, 20, Jenelle, 17, and Jacob, 14. All are excellent musicians and songwriters and often accompany Andy in concert and in recording.  Jeremy co-leads worship with Andy on occasion at Redwood Covenant Church and Jacob co-leads the Student Worship Band.  Jenelle plays the flute and sings. 

The family has a cat named “Maestro”, also known at “Bongo Kitty”. Maestro weighs 20 lbs – but he’s happy.
